Wednesday: Organizational facebooking and norm-critics

Day 1: Democracy

 Today was our first real day of training. We started with some ice-breakers, hopes and fears and rules for the week. Then it was time for Åse from www.democracy.se to introduce us to the theme of democracy.

In the evening we watched the documentary Zero Silence http://svtplay.se/v/2516860/k_special/zero_silence
We will have a longer discussion about the situation tomorrow and hopefully many questions will come up.

What’s your motivation for attending the training course?

·         Interest in working more with workers across Europe. Interested in volunteerism and help people to become active citizens.

·         I think this course will be very useful for S. group; volunteerism is one of the group’s interests. Our group participate in many activities related to volunteerism, we would like to enrich our group skills, also the title of the training related to the events and the political situation that Arab world live. And I really need to own the techniques for inspiring youth.

·         Personally I'm always busy local projects, so this is my first experience in which I participate and I hope learn an experience that will enable me to organize a project this dimension

·         I am highly interested in doing some volunteering and want to have theoretical background so that to be properly prepared for it.

·         To develop a partnership with a youth group in Sweden and to learn new skills from your organization.

·         Only motivation for attending the training course is to be known more about the events happened in the Arabic world.

·         Meeting others working with similar issues, finding out more about the MENA group and its activities, sharing the experiences of Mashallah News, finding possible future partners and collaborators, immersing myself more in the revolutions!

·         The interest is to exchange about the best practices about NGO management efficiency. Furthermore, this exchange can allow making contacts for possibly ideas of deployment in other countries.

·         I would like to attend the training course because in our association, we are used to participate to such events and I it has a great impact on its members. In addition, the theme is really interesting, so is the diversity of all participants.

The training course is getting closer. My fears are visas for our dear Euromed participants. I hope it will work out.

Short intro to the project

The project ”Year of revolutions and volunteerism- yalla let’s act!” is training course which aims to promote volunteerism and democratic structures and routine for experienced and non-experienced youth leaders in non-governmental organizations. 

The aim is to give the participants concrete methods and tools in order to create volunteerism and democratic processes within their own organization. Democratic structures and leadership are imporant factors in order to engage and recruit new volunteers and active members in every organization.

Youth leaders from a number ot total 15 organizations will participate. The total number of participants will be 30. The organizations will come from both Europe and MENA. The venue of the training course will be in the region of Stockholm.

The method of the training course is non-formal education and it is of major importance that the participants themselves will contribute and be as active as possible. Moreover, there will be study visits in order to share good methods.
